Is online shopping included in the Virginia Sales Tax Holiday?
If you prefer to shop online, you may claim the tax discount on things you purchase online, by mail, or the phone. All that is required is that the consumer pay for or get the item(s) within the sales tax exemption time.
If the seller accepts an order within the exemption period for immediate delivery, even if delivery is made after the exemption time, then online buys may also qualify for the tax cut. Sales tax does not apply to goods that must be custom-made for a later shipping date. Rental items are not included.
The item’s basic amount is not raised by the cost of delivery. Therefore, because the dress’s basic price is less than $100, even if you purchase it for $95 and the seller adds a $10 shipping charge, the goods still qualify for a tax deduction.
