UK Young India Professionals Scheme – Application Date, Fee and Eligibility 

The United Kingdom home office has initiated the new ballot for the UK-India Young Professional Scheme. The eligible candidates can apply this year from 20 February 2024 to work, study, and reside in the United Kingdom for 2 years. 

UK Young India Professionals Scheme

The Young Professional Scheme is a joint initiative by the UK and Indian governments to strengthen the relationship between both countries. The scheme allows young professionals to experience work and life in each other’s countries for two years.

The scheme was started in May 2021 under the partnership of the UK-India Mobility and Migration Partnership. 

The applicants can live, work, and study in the United Kingdom for 2 years. The ballot for this year is announced by the UK authorities. It will begin at 2:30 PM on 20 February and will end on 22 February 2024. 

In the ballot information released by the UK government for 2024, there are 3000 places available for Indian Young professionals to apply for a visa.

The candidates must get selected in the ballot before applying for the VISA. And to get selected for the ballot, you must look into the eligibility criteria of the Young Professionals Scheme. 

Eligibility of the Young India Professional Scheme

All the students who wish to apply can check the eligibility criteria to see if they qualify to apply or not. Eligibility criteria for the Young Professional Scheme Ballot:

  • You should be an Indian citizen or national and must fall under the age group of 18-30 years.
  • You must have savings of £2,530 in your bank account to support yourself in the United Kingdom.
  • You should not have dependent children who live with you or you are financially responsible for the children.
  • You must have eligible qualifications at the UK’s bachelor’s level or a degree that is equivalent to an overseas qualification degree level or above.

Documents you need to apply for the UK Young India Professionals Scheme

During the application procedure, you will be required to the following documents:

  • Bank statement or proof of  £2,530 in your account.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Education qualifications proofs or certificates.
  • A clearance certificate or police report from India.
  • Test results of Tuberculosis.

How to apply for the Young Professionals Scheme?

The application process for the Young Professional Scheme consists of the following procedure.

  • The eligible candidates must enter the ballot on 20 February 2024.
  • Once you get selected in the ballot, you will get an invitation to apply for a UK visa.
  • Get all your documents ready for the application procedure mentioned above.
  • Once you have all the documents, apply for the Young Professional Scheme Visa at the Visa Center or the official website of the UK-India Young Professional Scheme

After you complete the application procedure, you will usually hear from the authority in 3 weeks. If your application is delayed or taking longer than expected, then you can also pay to get it faster. But only the valid applications will move faster, such as you have to join a particular date in the office, etc.

The authorities will contact you if your application is getting delayed because:

  • You need to attend an interview for the Visa application.
  • Your document verification is still in process,
  • Some personal situations, such as criminal conviction, etc.

Fee of the Application for the UK Young India Professionals Scheme

The Young Professional Scheme ballot is free of cost to enter, but after that, there is an application fee to apply for the scheme.

The application can cost you around:

  • £298 for the application fee.
  • There is a healthcare charge under UK immigration that depends on your immigration status. Under this scheme, you need to pay £1,552 as a healthcare charge.

Remember, the application fee will not be refunded, if your application gets rejected during the visa process.
