UGC NET Application Form 2024
The UGC NET 2024 application form is the first and most important step for candidates interested in taking this competitive examination in India. The application form is available on the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) official website. The UGC NET 2024 Application Form for the June session will be released tentatively in March 2024 and the applications are expected to close in April 2024.
How to apply for UGC NET 2024?
The following is the process by which a candidate can apply for the UGC NET 2024 Examination:-
Step 1: Apply for Online Registration by using your own email address and phone number.
Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form and write down the Application Number generated by the system. The following basic information needs to be filled by the applicant when filling out the UGC NET 2024 Application Form:
- In capital characters, the candidate’s name, mother’s name, and father’s name as they appear on the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent Board/University Certificate.
- Date of Birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY as reported in the Secondary School Examination or equivalent Board/University certificate.
- Candidates must provide their own Mobile Number and email address.
- Subject Name in the Post Graduate Exam should also be filled by the candidate.
Step 3: Next, upload the scanned photos of:
(i) a recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) in color or black and white with 80% of the face (without mask) visible, including the ears, on a white background and;
(ii) signature of the candidate (file size: 4kb – 30kb)
Step 4: Pay the fee via SBI/CANARA/ICICI/HDFC Bank/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI and save the evidence of payment.
All steps can be completed concurrently or sequentially. A candidate’s application will be regarded as successful and his/her candidature will be confirmed only after the successful transaction/receipt of the stipulated application fee from him/her.

The Reservation Policy of the Indian Government also extends to UGC-NET 2024. According to this policy, there will be seat reservations in Central Universities and Institutions that are recognized as universities. These reservations will be allocated as per the following guidelines:

UGC NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria: Certificates Required

- Candidates falling under the OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC, ST, or PWD categories are required to provide an attested copy of their category certificate along with a printed copy of their online application forms.
- For individuals holding postgraduate degrees or diplomas from either Indian or foreign institutions, it is advisable to confirm the equivalence of their qualifications to Indian master’s degrees through the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024

This is a general paper meant to assess teaching and research aptitude.It contains 50 multiple-choice questions, out of which candidates must answer 50. The duration of Paper-I is 1 hour (60 minutes). It carries a total of 100 marks.It will consist of topics from Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Comprehension, Communication, Divergent Thinking, and General Awareness.

Paper-II is based on the candidate’s chosen subject and assesses in-depth knowledge. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, and all questions are compulsory. When completing the application, candidates must choose from the 83 subjects offered for the UGC NET 2024 Paper 2 exam. It’s essential that candidates opt for the subject they studied at the post-graduate level. In cases where their postgraduate subject is not among the UGC NET 2024 subjects, they can select a related subject from the list.
The duration of Paper-II is 2 hours (120 minutes) and is a total of 200 marks.

Both papers are conducted in a single session with no break in between. The UGC NET 2024 exam aims to evaluate the candidates’ eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions in various Indian universities and colleges.
The medium of both the Question Papers shall be in English & Hindi only except the language papers. For each correct response the candidate is awarded with 2 marks and there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer or an unanswered question.
In the event that a question in the UGC NET 2024 exam is identified as incorrect, unclear, or has multiple valid answers, only candidates who attempted the question and selected one of the correct answers will receive credit. If a question is declared incorrect and removed, those who attempted it will receive 2 marks.

The Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates of UGC NET June 2024, subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
