Basic Requirements:

  • Residential PSEG electric customer:You must have an active PSEG electric account for your residence where the EV charger will be installed.
  • Eligible electric vehicle: Own or lease an electric vehicle that is listed on the New Jersey Drive Clean Eligible Vehicle List.
  • Level 2 EV charger: Install a Level 2 EV charger from a participating contractor on your property. The charger must be:
    • ENERGY STAR® certified
    • Wi-Fi-enabled or cellular network-enabled
    • Compatible with PSEG’s data collection system

PSEG’s EV Charger Rebate Program offers two main benefits:

Behind-the-Meter Installation Rebate:

  • Up to $1,500 towards the cost of installing a Level 2 EV charger, covering both labour and materials. 
  • This applies to the total cost of installation, so if your installation costs less than $1,500,you’ll receive the full cost back.However, there is a minimum installation cost of $500 to qualify.

Pole-to-Meter Utility Service Upgrade Rebate: 

  • Up to $5,000 for necessary upgrades to your electrical service to handle the increased power demand of an EV charger. 
  • This rebate only applies if PSEG determines an upgrade is necessary and covers the cost of the upgrade up to the $5,000 limit. If the upgrade costs more than $5,000, you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.

Complete the Rebate Application:

  • Submit the completed application to PSEG within 60 days of installation.

Get Reimbursed:

  • Once PSEG approves your application, you’ll receive the rebate amount directly from the utility company.
  • The typical processing time is around 6-8 weeks.
