Question 1.
When two or more words combine to form one individual word or a phrase that acts as one word such words are called compound words.
There are three types of compound words, based on how the words are separated.
- Open compound words: There is a space between the words, for example, ice cream, high school.
- Closed compound words: There is no space between the words, for example, firefighter, breakfast.
- Hyphenated compound words: There are hyphens between the words, for example, up-to-date, mother-in-law.
Write 10 Compound words of each type.

A word in a sentence that tells us what happens or talks about an action taking place is called a verb or action word.
