Daytona 500 Purse

The prize for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series races has been made public ahead of the Daytona 500. In NASCAR, the Daytona 500 is the most renowned and profitable event. The largest-ever racing purse in history, $28,035,991, will be awarded during the 2024 Daytona 500.

Although the winner’s actual prize is unknown to the public, it is said to be worth between $1.5 million and $2 million. Alongside racing icons like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and Jimmie Johnson, the 2024 Daytona 500 winners will also receive a seat in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The Daytona 500 purse has increased by almost $10 million from its $18 million level in 2015, and this year’s increase is consistent with the rising trend.

Payouts to teams for participation, finishing position, duels, and three-year charter history totaling $28,035,991 are included in the Daytona 500 purse. $3,510,021 is the Xfinity opener. Bob Pockrass of FOX posted, “Truck opener: $1,058,336,” with X, previously used Twitter platform.

Daytona 500 Payout Per Position

Naturally, the fastest route to become well-known in the NASCAR world is through Daytona weekend. Despite being the season’s opening race, it’s the largest for each of the three main series and results have been announced so now everyone is curious about the Daytona 500 Payout Per Position.

The prize money for each competition symbolises the significant advantage that a person will have upon winning. Take a look at how much money is at stake and how it might affect per position, career path and a team’s ranking.

Although NASCAR does not make the payout for each place in the Daytona 500 public, it is predicted that the winner will take home between $1.5 million and $2 million, or around 8–9% of the total purse. The drivers split the remaining money according to their finishing position, charter status, number of duels, and other considerations.

The latest compensation split that has been published was in 2015, when Joey Logano took home $1.586 million and the runner-up took home $261,000. Along with the prestige that comes with winning the Daytona 500, the winner will undoubtedly earn a substantial award, even though they will only receive a small percentage of the more than $28 million total.

Who won the Daytona 500 2024?

Once again, Hendrick Motorsports is the owner of the Daytona 500. With four laps remaining, William Byron took the lead on a restart and was the 2024 winner. After the lead pack crossed the white flag, Byron grabbed the chequered flag following crashes by Austin Cindric and Ross Chastain, which brought out a race-ending yellow.

With a record-tying eighth victory in The Great American Race, William Byron led Hendrick Motorsports to a 1-2 finish over teammate Alex Bowman, launching the team’s 40th anniversary season.

One year after leading the Cup Series with six victories on the way to a Championship 4 place in 2023, Byron’s victory in the Daytona 500 represents his 11 career Cup Series victory.

Will the winner of the Daytona 500 get the Trophy?

The four-foot-tall and five-foot-wide Harley J. Earl Trophy, which is decorated with the names of every Daytona 500 winner, will be given to the race winner. The second NASCAR commissioner, father of the Corvette, and automotive designer Harley J. Earl is honoured with the trophy’s name.

However, they are not allowed to retain it. Following the presentation, Daytona International Speedway put on the large trophy, also called the Harley J. Earl Perpetual Trophy, back on display. The winner receives a scaled-down version of the Firebird One, which Earl designed in 1954, along with a smaller duplicate with a black base.

For the following year, the winner’s vehicle is also placed on display for spectators to view next to the trophy. The trophy weighs around 100 pounds and is about four feet tall by five feet broad.  In NASCAR, the trophy is said to be the most desirable and honour.
